Consumption vs Interaction
Mar 2, 2025
I was ranting about my craving for eating Egg stew curry to Ashwadhi and after sometime, she insisted me to cook the same. I barely enter our house kitchen by turning on google maps. She got super motivated, got the list of what to get from the grocery store. I went to the grocery store, I have no idea how each of those items look like. I used safari so many times searching for translation, images, explaining it to the kiranawala (asynchronous transfer of information). I came back, I don’t want to experience this to and fro again while cooking. So, I set up two cameras (one from mac for interacting with my aunt and ashwadhi and another one is my mobile camera which acts as a table top.
We all three got connected via a gmeet. I didn’t use my brain at all in terms of keeping the ingredients and process of cooking in mind. It was an absolute decluttered situation where she took care of the process and status of the cooking. All I did was using my common sense just to keep everything on track. I remember those days when my mom sees youtube channel, take notes, keep everything in mind, then while cooking, she refers back those videos twice, thrice, moving that timeline for almost god knows how many times. I am surprised about the fact that human brain has the ability to use designs made for different purpose to solve their goals. In my case, its bringing the process synchronous so that all the stakeholders can work at the same time reducing cognitive overload. I enjoyed the meal :))
